Do you feel sick for a few days then feel better? Does it get worse every week or is it always the same reaction?

Jenne

The pattern - if there is one - sort of goes like this:

Chemo day I feel great walking in and then over the course of the 4 hours I'm there the energy drains from me. Thursday I feel drained. Friday I feel worse ... no energy, sort of flu like and quite weak. Saturday my mouth starts to hurt. Chemo attacks the lining of my stomach and mouth so it begins to feel sort of like it does when you have a sore throat only in my mouth. Sunday is about the same only add aches and pains. Monday and Tuesday my mouth starts to get better and my appetite begins to return. Wednesday (one week later) I feel human again and usually have enough energy to work and see clients and engage. Each day after that I feel better and better. The weekend (10 days after) I usually feel great but have to be careful because my counts drop dramatically and I'm susceptible to infection. Along about Monday I start my shots to boost my immune system and then Wednesday here comes chemo again.

If there is any pattern, that seems to be it. However, each treatment has been a little different. There seems to be a cumulative effect with the fatigue but not with anything else. The one GREAT thing is that I've had little to NO nausea at all. The anti-nausea meds are amazing and that is something to be WAY grateful for!
